Our Story

1960

Having already started Standard Motors India, one of India’s “Big 3” Vehicle Manufacturers, K. Gopalakrishnan goes on to open Union Components & Accessories Ltd (UCAL) to locally manufacture Dunlop bicycle pumps and Bosch Ignition coils, with guidance from Robert Bosch himself.
Being so closely linked to a vehicle manufacturer, we have always deeply understood our customers’ challenges and needs.
Gopalakrishnan’s family continued in his Automotive footsteps: as founding members of the Madras Race Track and Racing Club, the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) and remain actively involved in the industry across various UCAL branded businesses today.
